Straight answers

Will Kanbus always be free to run myself?

Yes. Kanbus is MIT licensed and has no per-seat license fee.

What does managed mean?

We operate the agreed shared services, such as the hosted board and the realtime broker, apply updates and help keep the deployment healthy.

Can I move between options?

Yes. You can begin with self-setup and add an assisted session later, or take over operation yourself at any point. Your issues are files in your repository either way.
