Kanbus

Feature

Kanban board

A local web console that shows your issues as a live board, read straight from the files in your repository and refreshed the moment anything changes.

The Kanbus console is a board for people. It runs on your machine, reads the same issue files the CLI writes, and updates as soon as an issue changes, whether the change came from you, a teammate's pulled commit or an agent working in another terminal. It is the quickest way to see the state of a project at a glance.

Issues created and updated from the CLI appear on the board as they happen.

Start the console

The console server ships as kbsc in the Rust install and as a prebuilt kbsc binary on the GitHub releases page. Run it from inside a Kanbus project and open the address it prints.

cargo install kanbus
cd your-repository
kbsc
# Serves the board at http://127.0.0.1:5174/

Set CONSOLE_PORT to use a different port. The binary includes the web assets, so there is nothing else to install.

What you can do today

For issues, the console is a viewer. It is designed for watching work move, not for editing it.

See every column

Issues sort into columns by status, using the statuses defined in your workflow. Collapse the columns you do not need.

Filter and search

Search issues, switch between initiative, epic and issue views, and filter by project or by local versus shared issues.

Read the detail

Click a card to open its detail panel with the description, fields and comments.

The console also has a metrics view and a wiki workspace in the same window.

Live updates

The console listens for changes and pushes them to the browser over server-sent events. Run kbsc in one terminal and change an issue in another; the card moves without a reload.

kbs create "Realtime task"
kbs update kanbus-a1b2c3 --status in_progress

On a single machine this works with no extra setup. To share updates across machines, see Realtime collaboration.
